Account Executive – Sales Position

Michigan Broadband Services is looking for experienced B2B Sales Professionals to join our Sales Team. Responsibilities

Field Technician 

Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented Field Technician to join our team. Position will report daily to our Central Office located in Lake Gogebic. The ideal applicant will be willing to perform physical labor, work efficiently, and must be highly self-motivated. Must also be willing to enter customer premises in a respectful manner.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair telephone facilities including cable and fiber.
  • Maintain subscriber carrier systems, terminals, protection devices and customer owned equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair switching equipment, voice frequency repeaters, loop extenders and cable loading systems.
  • Ability to install and repair modems, drops, and any other necessary equipment in customer homes and businesses.
  • Ability to use small hand tools, power tools and test equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets and service order/repair tickets.

Customer Service Duties 

  • Must always represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Review all service requests with the customer to ensure understanding of products. 
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner including when responding to escalations and repeated customer concerns.

Qualifications 

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk kneel and ladder climb.
  • Knowledge of fiber installation and splicing is a bonus but not required.
  • High school diploma is required.

IT Technician 

Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented IT Technician to join our growing team. Position will report daily to our Traverse City office. The ideal applicant must be highly self-motivated and willing to learn new systems. Must also be willing to enter customer premises in a respectful manner.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues in a timely fashion.
  • Use available information resources to achieve problem resolution.
  • Advise clients of appropriate action.
  • Log all help desk interactions and redirect problems to appropriate resources.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Stay current with system information, changes, and updates.
  • Set-up, configure and support client networks including wireless and phone systems.
  • Develop and maintain client systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues.
  • Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users with a positive attitude. 

Customer Service Duties

Accounting Associate 

Michigan Broadband Services is seeking to fill the open position of Accounting Associate in our Carney, MI office. This position will report directly to the Controller. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining telco accounts, aid in keeping accurate accounting records, and preparing statements that follow regulatory and accounting guidelines. The position will be responsible for identifying and/or preventing discrepancies. Knowledge of accounting principles is a must. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, able to multi-task with the ability to pay close attention to details.

Responsibilities

  • The ability to support the different levels of accounting (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and reporting etc.) as needed 
  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements 
  • Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing 
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts 
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit 
  • Help in development of reports for management or regulatory agencies 
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances 
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records 

Requirements

  • ​Proven experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger 
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations 
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 (emphasis on Excel) and accounting software 
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field is preferred

Assistant Controller 

We are looking for a reliable Assistant Controller to assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a Controller. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.

An effective Assistant Controller has good knowledge of accounting principles. You must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.

The goal is to contribute to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control. You will report to a the Controller.

  • Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.) 
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closing, reporting etc.) 
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software 
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize 
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability 
  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred 
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
