Michigan Broadband Services Makes Donation to Escanaba Cleanup Event

Each year during May the community gathers to clean up and paint the town

Escanaba, MI, October 3, 2017 – The President of Michigan Broadband Services, Bruce Moore, announced multiple community donations during the Company’s free community appreciation party in Escanaba on September 21. The $1,000 donation was presented to Craig Carter of the Esky Cleanup organization. The group has held an annual community cleanup dating back to 2009. Each year during May, the community gathers to clean up and paint the town. The cleanup effort has grown each year, with over 350 citizens helping this year and enjoying a free community picnic. The organization also obtained non-profit status during 2017 and has a defined plan to support the community.

Michigan Broadband Services – formerly the Upper Peninsula Telephone Company – was founded in 1908 as the Wallace Telephone Company. In 2012 the Company changed its name to Michigan Broadband Services (MichBBS) to better represent their coverage area and their broadband services. MichBBS has customers across the state of Michigan, and provides telephone and broadband options with the newest technology. The community appreciation party was the kickoff of the installation of MichBBS’s high speed fiber network in the downtown area.

MichBBS has been a part of the local community for a long time and enjoys supporting organizations like the Esky Cleanup. The next cleanup event is scheduled for May 19, 2018.
